Energy For Learning

Funded by Operation Round Up, Energy For Learning Grants offer financial support to classroom projects that provide creative, innovative, hands-on learning experiences for K-12 students.

 

 

Through the program, teachers apply for grants to fund projects in the classroom in the areas of science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM).

Classroom Grants

 

Attention K-12 teachers in Butler, Dallas, Lowndes and Wilcox Counties: Do you have an idea for a classroom project? You could be awarded one of 10 Energy For Learning Grants for up to $500 each for the 2024-25 school year.

The Rules:

Eligibility:
Any teacher of grades K-12 at any public or private school in Butler, Dallas, Lowndes and Wilcox Counties are eligible to apply. One grant application per teacher per year will be accepted.

Funding Priorities:
Grants will be awarded to fund projects that enhance classroom learning in the areas of science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM). 

Restrictions:
Grants may NOT be used for:

  • Professional development
  • SMART board purchases
  • Field trips
  • Subscriptions
  • Computers or iPads
  • Computer programs
  • Standard classroom supplies (pencils, paper, chairs, tables, décor, printers, etc.)

Selection Criteria: 
Projects must provide a creative learning experience for students, benefit and directly involve students, follow a clearly defined plan of implementation and promote teamwork among students. 

Applications will be reviewed by a panel of judges who will score them based on the following criteria:

  • Provides innovative, creative learning experiences for students
  • Helps meet students’ unmet needs
  • Provides ongoing benefits for students
  • Directly involves students
  • Appropriateness for classroom setting
  • Clearly defined goals and objectives
  • Includes an effective implementation plan
  • Provides a mechanism for evaluating the project’s success/outcome
  • Provides an itemized budget

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Teachers from the same school may submit separate applications. If you are partnering on a project, please submit only one application for that project.

Grant winners will be notified in early November.

Applications will be scored by an independent panel of judges with backgrounds in education.  

No. A teacher may only apply for one grant per school year.

Grant checks will be issued to the school or school system where the project will be implemented.
