Inside Pioneer Electric

Democratic Member Control

As elected representatives of our communities, our cooperative’s board is actively invested in providing its members with the best electric energy services and resources. Elected by the membership, the cooperative Board of Trustees are also members, but with a unique perspective.

Their responsibilities include planning and policy oversight, setting the cooperative’s long-term objectives and providing the resources to meet those objectives. Their commitment includes monthly meetings to review progress, make strategic decisions and educate themselves on an increasingly complex business.

INSIDE PIONEER ELECTRIC

Trustee elections

A policy-making board of nine trustees governs Pioneer Electric Cooperative. Our Board makes decisions in the best interest of the membership as a whole. They live and work in the local community and are co-op members themselves. These directors are elected at-large at the Annual Meeting of the members, and they exercise all of the powers of the cooperative, except those reserved to the members, according to the cooperative bylaws.

2025 Election Information:

The positions up for election in 2025 are District 2, District 5 and District 8. Any person interested in running for a position on the Board of Trustees must complete and submit a petition by Monday, Aug. 4, at 4 p.m. The petition must be signed by 25 Pioneer Electric members in good standing who reside within the district. To request a nomination petition, contact Christi Scruggs at (334) 382-4904 or cscruggs@pioneerelectric.com

Trustee elections for Pioneer Electric’s Board of Trustees take place by mail-in ballot or by votes cast in person at the annual meeting. Election packets will be mailed to members in September. Mailed ballots must be received by October 1, 2025, or members may vote in person at the Annual Meeting on October 4, 2025, at the Butler County Fairgrounds.

Pioneer Electric’s Bylaws govern the election process and qualifications for candidates. For more information, click the button below to download the document.
