Won't you be our neighbor?

“Won’t you be my neighbor?” That familiar phrase from Mister Rogers is more than just a greeting — it’s an invitation to connect, care and build stronger communities.

As a member-owned cooperative, we’re more than just a utility provider. We’re neighbors. We share the same roads, cheer for the same high school teams, and gather at the same community events. We believe that building strong relationships with our members starts by showing up — not just during outages or billing concerns, but in the everyday moments, too.

This summer, we’re excited to try something brand new: Pioneer Electric Ice Cream Socials! It’s the first time we’ve hosted events like these, and we’re excited to hit the road and meet our members where they are.

The theme is “Get the Scoop on Pioneer Electric,” and we’ll be doing just that — serving up cold treats and friendly conversations across our service area. These events are designed to bring our team into the heart of the communities we serve — your communities.

These gatherings aren’t about power outages or billing questions (though we’re always happy to help with those, too). They’re about connection. They’re a chance to meet the folks behind the phones and service trucks, to ask questions about how your cooperative works, and to get to know each other a little better — one scoop at a time.

We hope these events feel less like a member service visit and more like a neighbor dropping by to say hello. We want to listen, learn, and continue building relationships that go beyond the meter. After all, the better we know our members, the better we can serve you.

We also hope these events spark something more. If you’re happy to be part of Pioneer Electric, we encourage you to help spread the word. As a cooperative, every new member strengthens the whole. When more people join our system — whether they’re building a new home, starting a business, or moving to our community — it helps increase what’s called “density.” That means more members served on each mile of line, which ultimately helps lower costs for everyone.

We know rural living comes with both charm and challenges. We also know that the strength of our community lies in working together. The more connected we are, the more we can accomplish — whether that’s improving reliability, expanding programs, or simply sharing a little joy on a summer afternoon.

We hope you’ll stop by, say hello, and let us treat you to something sweet. After all, you’re not a customer — you’re a member, a neighbor and a vital part of what makes our cooperative special.
