Home. It’s where the heart is. It’s where you hang your hat. And, like Dorothy said, there’s no place like it.
Except for my time studying at Auburn University, Butler County has been my home for my entire life. My wife and I raised our family here and spent our adult lives engrained in the community we love so much. We’re proud to call rural Alabama ‘home.’
Pioneer Electric is also ‘homegrown.’ Back in the ‘30s, rural folks dreamed of the conveniences their neighbors in ‘town’ enjoyed because of electricity. So, neighbors banded together to create our co-op and deliver the power they desperately wanted and needed. Because of that, co-ops are inherently hometown organizations formed by members of our community to serve our community.
Nearly 90 years later, that hasn’t changed.
From the crews that keep you powered to those answering the phones, our employees live in your communities, too.
This local connection means that the people who work here aren’t just employees; we’re your neighbors and friends who share your love for our hometowns.

We’re your energy experts
In today’s digital age, there are thousands of ‘experts’ at your fingertips. But when it comes to energy issues, the Internet is rife with misinformation. While you can find great energy-saving tips online, you can avoid the risk of receiving inaccurate advice from unverified sources by calling us. Our staff has access to your account information, service history and other relevant data, allowing them to provide accurate solutions to your energy questions. This level of service is impossible to achieve through Internet searches and social media.
Plus, sharing details about your account on social media can compromise your privacy. By contacting us directly, you can discuss your concerns in a secure and confidential manner.
The ladies and gentlemen in our member services department are happy to assist you in finding ways to lower your energy costs. They can also help you choose a rate plan that suits your lifestyle and budget.
