Pioneer Electric Cooperative hosted its 87th Annual Meeting on Oct. 12, bringing co-op leaders and members together for a morning of fellowship and fun.
The meeting is an opportunity for members to learn about the cooperative’s programs and services, vote in trustee elections, visit with co-op staff and leadership, participate in activities, and win door prizes. With nearly 400 people in attendance, this year’s meeting was the co-op’s biggest Annual Meeting ever.
In the Board of Trustee elections, incumbents Josh Gardner (District 1), Tom Duncan (District 4) and John Henry (District 7) ran unopposed and were re-elected.
“Annual Meetings are a hallmark of cooperatives and an opportunity for members to participate in the business, share ideas and come together to celebrate what makes us unique,” said Pioneer Electric VP of Communications Christi Scruggs. “We always look forward to opportunities to visit with our members, and we enjoyed seeing so many of them at our Annual Meeting this year.”
Cooperatives are not-for-profit organizations led by boards made up of member-owners of the cooperative. Pioneer Electric Cooperative serves approximately 12,800 homes and businesses, primarily in Butler, Dallas, Lowndes and Wilcox Counties.
