Pioneer Electric is introducing a new way residential members can pay for electricity. It’s called Smart-Pay and it allows members to pay up front for electricity before they ever use a single kilowatt-hour!

Smart-Pay helps you control your budget by making payments into your account as you can afford to do so. Simply add money into your Smart-Pay electric account online, over the phone, or in our office, as your account needs to be filled – like filling up your gas tank!

You will need to visit our office to sign up for Smart-Pay and make an initial $50 credit into your account to get the electricity flowing. An additional $25 deposit is required for Smart-Pay and members will not have late fees or disconnect/reconnect fees. In total, $75 (deposit and initial credit) must be paid to be connected. Existing members who wish to switch to Smart-Pay will have their deposits applied to their Prepaid accounts. Some restrictions apply.

Would it be easier for you to make daily, weekly or biweekly payments rather than one large payment each month?

Prepay works best for people who want to take control of their electric accounts and energy usage. By monitoring your consumption on a regular basis, you will begin to notice patterns in your day-to-day usage. Any variation from this pattern, such as a house guest (increase) or a vacation (decrease), will become evident as you monitor your account. Monitoring and controlling daily usage can help keep those electrical costs down.

Statistics indicate prepay electricity programs help lower electric consumption due to a member’s awareness of usage patterns.

Any member interested in monitoring and lowering their electricity usage would benefit from the pay-as-you-go program.
